Madoff investor found dead of possible suicide

NEW YORK (AP) — The founder of an investment fund that lost millions with Bernard Madoff was found dead Tuesday at his Madison Avenue office of a possible suicide, authorities said.

Authorities found Rene-Thierry Magon de la Villehuchet at 7:50 a.m. with no pulse at his office of Access International Advisors, located on Madison Avenue a couple of blocks from Rockefeller Center.

A French newspaper is reporting that the 65-year-old de la Villehuchet committed suicide. The New York medical examiner spokeswoman says it has not determined the cause of death yet.

Madoff is accused of running a $50 billion Ponzi scheme that wiped out investors around the world, with big funds like de la Villehuchet’s being especially hard hit.

His $1.4 billion fund specializes in managing hedged and structured investment portfolios. Access International Advisors was jointly founded by Patrick Littaye and de la Villehuchet. The hedge fund reportedly used intermediaries with links to the cream of Europe’s high society and jet set to garner clients.

The former chairman and CEO of Credit Lyonnais Securities USA, de la Villehuchet was known as a keen sailor who regularly participated in regattas.

Emeralds have long been my favorite stone.  I like them better than diamonds, rubies, or sapphires.  I’m not exactly sure what I would do with the 850 pound Bahia Emerald, the second largest of it’s kind, and worth a whopping 370 million dollars.  After all that is one big rock.

However, I’m sure if I was the one it belonged to, I’d have it under better security.

Here’s the Los Angelas Times Story

LOS ANGELES COUNTY

850-pound emerald recovered

The Sheriff’s Department has recovered a stolen 850-pound emerald worth an estimated $370 million, officials said Friday.

The stone, known as the Bahia Emerald, was unearthed in Brazil and is believed to be the second-largest stone of its kind, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The gem, once auctioned on EBay, has also been the focus of numerous lawsuits.

The gem was stolen from a secured vault in South El Monte in September and later warehoused in Las Vegas, said Lt. Thomas Grubb of the Major Crimes Bureau.

"The way it was stolen was through falsification of paperwork," Grubb said. "They flimflammed some papers and were able to get it released from the vault."

The investigation led sheriff’s officials to Idaho and Las Vegas. When the suspects learned that deputies were hot on their trail, they agreed to hand over the gem. On Dec. 19, sheriff’s investigators arrived in Las Vegas with a court order and took possession of the stone. No arrests were made.

The emerald has since been returned to L.A. County and will remain in the custody of the Sheriff’s Department until ownership is resolved.

"A judge is going to have to rule on who the rightful owner is," Grubb said.

"We got one side telling us it belongs to them, and another side saying no, it belongs to us."

Jaimee Foxworth Now & Then

When our children want only to be rich and famous, we only have to look at the many people who got fame at such a young age to wonder if it is ever worth it to create stars out of our kids.

The Olson Twins, Brittney Spears, and Jaimee Foxworth (played as Judy Winslow on FamilyMatters, and reportedly Crave in Porn) are a few of the people that come to mind when I think about the tragic events that have happened with people who have become famous at a young age.

Celebrity is difficult enough for adults to handle.  Let’s all think twice before we pursue it for our kids.

Jaimee Foxworth will be appearing on this season’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew on VH1. I wish her the best of luck.

Here’s the complete story from Associated Content.

Jaimee Foxworth (Judy Winslow, Crave) Abandons Porn Career: Seeks Return to Mainstream ActingFamily Matters star Jaimee Foxworth represents yet another troubled former child star who is trying to turn her life around. Jaimee Foxworth starred as Judy Winslow on the first four seasons of Family Matters before her character "went upstairs" in 1993 and never came back. Since then, Jaimee Foxworth turned to alcohol and marijuana. After being unable to land mainstream roles, this former child star turned to porn movies in order to make ends meet. Jaimee Foxworth starred in several porn movies under the name "Crave." Eventually, she grew weary of the adult industry and is seeking a return to mainstream acting.

Judy Winslow’s Disappearance: Her Parents Partially to Blame?

Like many former child stars, the parents may in part to blame for Jaimee Foxworth’s situation. According to NNDB, Judy Winslow’s character was cut for budget reasons. Her bankrupt parents had been asking for more money from the show and were denied when Family Matters chose not to develop her character. After graduating from high school, a judge allowed Jaimee Foxworth’s trust fund to be used to pay off her parents’ debt. She was never able to use her money, as it had been used to bail out her family. Her case is somewhat reminiscent of former child star Macaulay Culkin whose parents squandered his earnings in legal disputes over his money.

Jaimee Foxworth: Turning Her Life Around

Jaimee Foxworth has also struggled with substance abuse. After her family squandered her trust fund, she turned to alcohol and marijuana for comfort. Like many former child stars including Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner), Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady), and Haley Joel Osment, she struggled with substance abuse. Yet her case is unique in that "Crave" relied on alcohol to survive filming the porn movies. Jaimee Foxworth has since demonstrated her commitment to sobriety by appearing on this season’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew on VH1.
